An Unholy Fire

Begging for purification

My tongue swallowed the sun
as clouds hovered over
time’s map. Hollowness
shrouded me as my mouth
told secrets of Earth’s battle
with man’s temptations.

Desecrated soil forebode
our rapacious desires.
Toxic air whispered
venomous parables, while
the ocean’s tide begged
our souls for purification.

My eyes rained an unholy
fire upon the wretched
flesh of man, melting bruised
egos and obnoxious pride.
Still I wondered if it’s enough
to calm the raging storm.
