The Heist
Drabble | Crime
The sun beat down as I struggled to pull his body across the field. I never wanted it to come to this, but he knew too much.
It started a week ago when he overheard a conversation between my brother and myself. Our plans were simple–steal the cash and leave town. The heist was over before it began. Easy prey delivered a bag of money without a fight.
Then he came with a proposition–blackmail, leaving a sour taste in my mouth. My anger hovered over his shadow. And now I traipse under the burning sky, dragging his corpse behind me.
