The Rocks
Drabble | Crime
“We’re all going to die”, I mumbled as I watched the tide. Some sooner than others. Much sooner in the case of Paul Brackett.
It all started a month ago. We stared into time’s hourglass. I saw forever. He saw desire as a raging fire. My heart sunk as I realized his fantasies were unattainable. His gaze drifted. Their eyes met. Her smile snuffed out the torch I carried.
Here, alone, I stand on the edge watching his body crash against the rocks. I never meant for it to end this way. But it did. And it’s all her fault.
