Final Stand
Poetry Form | Ballade
Among the shadows, death recalls
a tale of love, my heart’s true plight.
I journey beyond castle walls
to crucify my lover’s knight.
Upon horseback, this bitter night
begins a battle for her hand.
Sword by my side, ready to fight
for love I’ll take my final stand.
Her tantalizing kiss enthralls.
I’m captivated by her sight.
Temptation held within appalls,
the strength inside I must incite.
He stands in wait, under moonlight,
showed up to battle as we planned.
Our fate entangled in this rite,
for love I’ll take my final stand.
With sword in hand, my hate befalls,
his eyes amazed brought my delight.
His cries echoed through temple halls,
I fell on him with all my might.
His stance begging me not to smite
I did not cave to his demand
but relished in his ghastly fright -
for love I’ll take my final stand.
The pain we shed may not be right,
this tale of love I won’t expand.
But to my love I will recite -
for love I’ll take my final stand.
